Whales and Winners – Another Long Cetacean Sightings Report
Whales have been everywhere. From Northern Resident Killer Whales, Humpbacks, our usual Transient Bigg’s Orca, to Grey Whales. Of course some of the smaller species reports are still coming in also; Pacific White Sided Dolphins, Dall’s Porpoise and some Harbour Porpoise in some larger groups. We’ve received a report of a Dolphin or Porpoise possibly killed by some of the Transient Bigg’s, a report of another possible entanglement, this time one of the T02C’s which appears to have been in error, but had us all hopping, and we even had a report of another Elephant Seal beaching to molt.
Our reports are a day behind, due to their length and lack of volunteers to help share the inputting of the information. Are you interested and willing to help out? Drop us a note.
2015 Summer Fundraising Raffle
Congratulations to our Winners:
Drawn at Powell River SeaFair on July 26:
Our Grand Prize winner: Jamie Wagner, has been unreachable so far with only a partial address and an incorrect phone number. We did send an email, but have not heard back. Yes, we did try cross-referencing phone and address in every way, and if we do not hear shortly, we will be in touch with the Gaming Commission, who dictates what we are allowed to do, to ask permission to redraw from the remaining tickets. It will be their decision.
Second Prize winner: Rhonda Dickson, Powell River
Third Prize winner: Alan Rowan, Vancouver
Fourth Prize winner: Sandy Crossley, Powell River
As posted previously, our Early Bird Draw was held June 21:
First Prize: Nancy Fabbro, Sechelt
Second Prize: Lloyd Friesen, Powell River
Third Prize: Raven Hawthorne, Vancouver
We’d like to thank you all for your support through on-line and in person ticket purchases. Total revenues from our 2015 Raffle is being compiled. And will be available to anyone interested.
